The Christian Peoples Alliance party have announced that Dr Tom Rogers has been nominated for the Peterborough by-election on 6th June. The party has some revolutionary policies much needed right now.
The CPA supports leaving the EU immediately, arguing that no deal would be preferable to Theresa May’s withdrawal agreement. They say we could have another referendum on the EU but not until at least 5 years after we have left. Pledging now to hold another referendum when people can see what leaving is like would bring the country back together and be democratic. Holding another referendum before we have left would just lead to a debate based on speculation with no hard evidence of anything and it would be a denial of democracy.
Other key CPA policies include introducing a Turnover Tax, offset against Corporation Tax (tax on profits), targeted at big multinational online companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Facebook who send all their profits abroad so don’t pay tax on profits earned in the UK. This would operate like a Company VAT payment with the same threshold, £85,000.
They would use the money raised through this to:-
1) Immediately halve commercial rates to help City centre stores
2) Restore
the £12bn Tory cuts to benefits and guarantee night shelters free for
all homeless people and work with them to provide suitable permanent
accommodation. Tom Rogers commented that ‘No one should be left hungry
and out in the cold’

Support marriage by paying a grant of £12,000 for a first marriage and
£6,000 on the birth of a first child backed up with training and
support. The CPA say ‘this will address family breakdown which has been
estimated to cost the country around £51 billion a year, aside from the
human cost’.
Tom Rogers has also raised major concerns about the Government’s new compulsory relationships and sex education in schools, because they are denying parents the right to withdraw their child, even if they have serious concerns about what is being taught. Dr Rogers commented ‘We all want our children to be safe, but this cannot be done by stopping conscientious parents from exercising their best judgement over what their children need to learn about and when. Schools should be places of education not state indoctrination’.

Rogers lives in Gunthorpe with his wife and four children. He now works
as an education manager, having previously been an English teacher.

I love the fact that someone like Tom is willing to stand… and there’s no doubt that being a teacher is ideal prep for the cut and thrust of politics. However, it might be worth editing the press release because ‘revolutionary’ is spelt wrongly, as is ‘information’. All the best, Tom.

Education is not indoctrination. Referring to the No Outsiders programme – pupils are taught about the positive values of diversity, tolerance and acceptance, in a wide-ranging curriculum encompassing LGBT+ rights, same-sex relationships, gender identity, race AND RELIGION. With the aim to make the next generation more educated, tolerant and open to the world they live in. Anyone fighting these moves is proving the real need for these lessons.
Firstly, I am deeply concerned by the projection of a “Dr” outside Peterborough City Hospital. This is very misleading. Mr Rogers is a doctor of English Literature – not the medical field. Could he not have found a more suitable location for this photo?
Secondly, throwing money at newlyweds will not support a marriage. Money does not solve everything in this world. Similarly another grant upon the safe delivery of a first child is abhorrent and will give rise to all sorts of grotesque manipulation. Again, you can offer all the support in the world but if the stars aren’t aligned then it won’t work.
Overall, Mr Rogers’ manifesto appears to be idealistic and immature. The implementation of the pledges he has made would not be clear cut and without their own specific issues. Back to the drawing board I think.
